How to vote

Saint John municipal election. Three days to cast your ballot, no ID needed for most voters, and you have two votes for Councillor-at-Large.

When you can vote

All three days run from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at your assigned polling station.

You can use any of the three days. No special permission is needed to vote at an advance poll.

What to bring

If you are already on the voters list, you do not need ID. Just give your name and address to the poll worker.

If it is your first time voting, bring documents that show your name, current address, and signature. A New Brunswick driver's licence covers all three. Other accepted documents (used in combination) include a lease, utility bill, student ID, Medicare card, or Certificate of Indian Status.

No ID and no documents? A friend who is on the voters list can vouch for you with an affirmation at the poll.

Where to vote

Your polling station is on the Voter Information Card mailed by Elections NB starting Monday, April 27. If your card has not arrived, or you want to confirm, look up your address with the official tool.

Not on the voters list?

You can add yourself to the list, correct your address, or update your information online or by phone. The deadline to be added to the list is Thursday, May 7, 2026.

The online portal cannot tell you whether you are already on the list. The simplest signal is whether your Voter Information Card arrives in the mail.

Saint John returning office

For in-person help with registration, special ballots, or any voting question, the Saint John returning office is open from March 23 through May 11, 2026.

If you cannot vote in person

Apply for a special ballot through the returning office. Special ballots have been issued since April 20. Completed ballots must be returned to the returning office by 8:00 p.m. on May 11.

What is on your ballot

As a Saint John voter, you elect:

Your two at-large votes are for separate seats, both city-wide. They are not ranked or paired. I am running for one of those two seats. If my platform resonates, I would be honoured to be one of your two at-large votes.
