A clearer view of Common Council

Common Council meets every two weeks and votes on the decisions that shape Saint John. Almost none of those votes are visible to residents unless you sit through the meeting yourself. This is the project that fixes that.

The work lives on the Strong Towns Saint John site, content will be edited by the Strong Town team. New members always welcome!

✅ Initial site setup. The portal is live, with the structure for motions, summaries, and per-meeting pages in place.
📋 Past meetings, ingested with video chapters. Every motion from past meetings, linked back to the right point in the video so you can watch the discussion in context. Close to ready.
📋 Future meetings, processed before they happen. A preview of each meeting published before it starts: what's being voted on, and what it means in plain language.
📋 Signups for notifications. Choose what you want to hear about (a topic, a neighbourhood, a councillor), get a note when something matching is on the agenda or has been voted on.

Why this matters

If you don't know what your council is doing, you can't push back, support, or hold anyone accountable. Most residents don't have four hours a week to watch a meeting and another hour to make sense of it. They shouldn't have to. The portal is the same information, in the form residents can actually use.
